Memorial Service for Missionaries

Dear Sisters,

We just received an update from President Trayner and wish to pass this important information on to you. Please help us get word to all members.

The Missionary Department has authorized President Trayner to hold a memorial service open to the public in connection with the deaths of Elders Strong and Walker. The service is scheduled for Sunday, November 20th at 6:00 pm at the Weslaco chapel. The service will be under the direction of President Trayner and Elder Villarreal will preside.

The service will last approximately one hour. Translation into Spanish will be provided.

The meeting will be recorded only by the stake in order to forward a copy to the families of the deceased elders. All other recording is strictly prohibited.

Elder Strong and Elder Walker's bodies will be transported today to their respective homes. Funeral services for both will be on Monday.

President Trayner stated the following: "Such services are not the norm. The outpouring of love and requests for such a service led me to ask for permission to hold the service. We appreciate the love and support we have felt from all. We believe this service will provide healing to the missionaries, church members, and the community. Thank you for your kind words shared with me and our missionaries at this time."
